We invite you to become a member of the Sons of the American Legion if you are::
• A male descendant (includes stepsons and adopted sons) of a member of the American Legion.
• The male descendant (stepsons and adopted sons included) of a veteran who died in service during the eligible conflicts as outlined below.

• The male descendant (stepsons and adopted sons included) of a veteran who died subsequent to his or her honorable discharge from service during the eligible conflicts as outlined below.

CONFLICT ELIGIBILITY DATES

August 2, 1990 to present (Gulf War / War on Terrorism)

December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990 (Panama)

August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984 (Lebanon / Grenada)

February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975 (Vietnam War)

June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955 (Korean War)

December 7, 1941 to a date to be determined by the Federal Government (Legion Act)

April 6, 1917 to November 11, 1918 (World War I)

LEGION ACT signed into law

  In a significant legislative victory for The American Legion, President Trump signed a bill July 30 that declares the United States has been in a state of war since Dec. 7, 1941. The LEGION Act opens the door for approximately 6 million veterans to access American Legion programs and benefits for which they previously had not been eligible.  CLICK HERE for details.

  Please print the application below. Complete the application and provide $20 membership dues. Checks should be made out to Sons of the American Legion Post #40. Mail completed application and dues to SAL Membership Officer, PO Box 285, Lanesboro MN 55949.
