NOT A MEMBER OF THE LEGION? JOIN TODAY!
We invite you to become a member of the American Legion if you are currently on active duty, serving the United States honorably, anywhere in the world, or have been honorably discharged from the U.S. military and served at least one day on active duty during any of the eligible war eras (shown below). Contact Candy Larro at 507-259-8261 oknbucket@yahoo.com to answer any questions.

You are also eligible for membership if:
• Your basic training was on federal activation orders and during the during the conflict dates listed below.
• You were federally activated subsequent to and during any of the conflict dates listed below.
• Your activations were for training or for missions; check the title and subsection of your activation orders.
• Under eligibility guidelines for Legion membership, the term "active duty" as used in our national constitution includes "active duty for training."
• Current and past members of the National Guard and Reserve may also be eligible for membership provided that they had periods of at least four months of duration for training in one or another of the conflict dates listed below.  Annual summer camps and weekend drills do not constitute eligible periods of service.  The key to determining if a Guardsman and Reservist has been on or is currently serving on federal active duty is the "AUTHORITY LINE" on the activation orders of the Guardsman/Reservist.  In both cases "TITLE 10, SUBSECTION 672 OR 12301" are orders from the Secretary of Defense and are federal orders.  A person need not have served overseas to be eligible, but must possess an Honorable Discharge (DD For 214).
